Abstract
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the most common rheumatic disease in children. Within the Hippocratic Corpus, it is recognized as a children's disease and its therapeutic treatment is thoroughly proposed. It impresses the fact that the exceptional observation skills of Hippocrates, resulted in the disease classification in oligoarthritis and polyarthritis, and in the recognition of the disease onset and course, acute, subacute, -chronic with flares. He used in the therapeutic protocols anti-inflammatory preparations, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and electricity. The relation of those times’ beliefs with modern rheumatology is extremely evident.
